Job Description

We are looking for a new team member to join Tomatin Firewood! Ideally living locally within 20 miles of Tomatin. Must be able to work on their own much of the time, but also within a very small team. We really want a candidate who reliable, has an interest in this type of work and is looking for a long term role within the business. We are not looking for someone just looking for a short term role.

Please note this position does require a physically able candidate, as there will likely be an element of lifting or pushing on a daily basis. It can often involve working outside at all times of the year! Ideally this position would suit someone who has had some previous experience operating plant machinery such as telehandlers.

The role will mainly involve processing firewood using firewood processors and carrying out deliveries with a pickup and trailer. It will also involve operating tractor and timber trailer, telehandlers, chain sawing. Assisting with operation of kiln and the boiler, maintaining machinery, stacking jobs, occasionally bagging logs, kindling and general duties related to the firewood business.

The role will be for around 40-45 hours per week, the starting wage currently will be around 13 per hour and will increase 17 per hour dependent on the ability and experience of candidate. Salary is reviewed every month, and is increased generally on the quality of work, care of machinery and efficiency. The salary includes the statutory 5-6 weeks (28 paid days) paid holidays a year and standard pension contributions. Once more experienced, a company vehicle may also be provided to get to and from work.

Training can be provided for machinery that candidate has no experience in. Paid for external courses are not counted as working hours. Work safety clothing provided.

It is important that the candidate is able to follow instructions, ensuring that the product quality is kept to a high standard at all times, whilst operating in efficient manner, and is also able to be friendly with customers.
