Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Fishmonger to join our team. As a Fishmonger, you will be responsible for the preparation, presentation, and sale of a variety of fish and seafood products. Your expertise in food production and culinary techniques will ensure that our customers receive the highest quality products while adhering to food safety standards.

Duties

Prepare and display a wide range of fresh fish and seafood for sale, ensuring attractive presentation. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the fish counter and surrounding areas in compliance with health and safety regulations. Assist customers with their selections, providing knowledgeable advice on cooking methods and recipes. Perform butchery tasks including filleting, skinning, and portioning fish as required. Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management to ensure freshness of products. Collaborate with kitchen staff to fulfil orders for prepared seafood dishes. Uphold high standards of food safety throughout all processes, from receiving deliveries to serving customers.

Skills

Proven experience in food production or culinary roles, preferably within a retail or restaurant environment. Strong background in food preparation techniques, with an emphasis on butchery skills specific to fish. Comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations and best practices. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers. Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is advantageous. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
