We have an exciting opportunity for a Fitter to join our Rail team based in Sandiacre, Nottingham. If you're hands-on, mechanically minded, and ready to take on a role that offers variety and challenge, this could be the perfect fit.

This role calls for flexibility--you'll need to be available for weekend work and open to travelling across the UK, including occasional overnight stays. In return, you'll be part of a skilled and supportive team, working on projects that keep the nation's railways running smoothly.
What you'll be doing


The successful candidate will have the following accountabilities:

To setup, operate and pack away Specialist Services machines for operation in worksites
Undertake maintenance & repairs of the machines to include fault finding
Undertake any necessary daily, weekly, monthly, 6 & 12 monthly maintenance of the machines as detailed in the maintenance manual;
Undertake training as required to retain and obtain required competency levels to operate, maintain & repair Specialist Plant machines up to safety critical level;
Report any problems or safety issues to the Specialist Plant Supervisor/Manager;
Comply with the provided Safe System of Work;
To comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental;


Who we're looking for


The successful candidate will have the following qualities/experience:

Either a trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or possess an NVQ Level 3 (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent;
Demonstrable experience in fault finding, repairing, maintaining and operating On Track Plant/Machines would be a distinct advantage.
Personal Track Safety;
Meets medical standard NR/L2/OHS/00124;
Driving Licence;
Excellent communication and people skills;
An ability to apply and champion the company's Health & Safety policy;
Self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Be prepared to work unsociable hours (nights, weekends, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year) and lodge when workload requires;
