We seek a proactive Fleet Manager with a solid fleet or workshop management background. You'll work with our transport logistics team, drivers, and subcontractors to oversee a diverse vehicle fleet (4x4s, 3.5-tonne trucks, HGVs) and ensure top standards in safety, compliance, and efficiency. Your role will be integral to maintaining smooth operations, controlling costs, and meeting regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance & Safety:
Manage maintenance schedules to ensure all vehicles are safe and roadworthy. Coordinate timely repairs and service through our mechanic team.
Compliance & Auditing:
Conduct regular audits to enforce company policies and regulations, including verifying driver hours and accident/incident reporting.
Policy & Procedures:
Develop and enforce Gate Check procedures to ensure high vehicle condition and compliance standards.
Cost Management:
Control costs through strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and in-house maintenance.
Leadership & Driver Development:
Mentor drivers, support their induction, and provide ongoing training to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
Third-Party Relationships:
Build relationships with subcontractors, dealers, 3rd party garages and clients to support smooth operations.
Sustainability & Health & Safety:
Promote fuel efficiency and sustainable practices within the fleet, nurturing a robust health and safety culture.
Data & Reporting:
Use transport software to track driver performance, hours, and vehicle maintenance, generating reports to ensure compliance and address issues.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in fleet and compliance software, route optimisation, and telematics.
Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventative schedules.
Familiarity with O Licence and transport regulations, preferred.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
CPC (or willingness to achieve it) preferred.
Experience in budget and cost control.
Strong leadership, project management skills, and a valid driving license.
