Accountable/ Reporting to: Garden Project Manager
Responsibilities:
1.
Principle Duties:
1.1 Supporting adults with learning disabilities in a horticultural environment.
1.2 Provide advice and practical assistance in horticultural work which will include plant propagation, cultivation and preparation of floral displays.
1.3 Take part in craft activities and be involved in session planning.
1.4 Assist in the developing and reviewing of Support Plans and Outcomes. Comply with policy and procedures and contribute to risk assessments.
1.5 Support trainees to develop personal and work skills to achieve maximum independence by:
a. Encouraging the trainees active participation in the work environment.
b. Encouraging and supporting trainees to develop social interaction and employment skills.
c. Encouraging and/or assisting trainees to understand and develop numeracy and literacy skills.
1.6 Help promote the active participation of relatives, friends and volunteers in the garden project and develop close links with the local community and its facilities.
1.7 Maintain good working relationships with professionals and to participate in trainees reviews.
1.8 Attend meetings and training as required.
1.9 Assist in record keeping

Garden Project Support Worker
Essential Criteria:
Must be physically fit
Must be over 18 years of age
Must be able to communicate/report effectively, and be able to maintain accurate records
Must be able to deal professionally with customers and visitors
Must be willing to work flexibly over seven days if required
Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge/interest in horticulture
Must be prepared to attend all training provided.
Must be able to take direction from senior staff
Must have a current, valid driving licence and be prepared to undertake driving duties
Must be willing to participate, motivate and inspire the trainees in work activities
Desirable Criteria:
Have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
Have an understanding about issues and principles in learning disabilities
Have an understanding of support plans
Have a horticultural/teaching qualification
Be willing to participate in offsite activities
Have a variety of practical skills
Have a mini bus driving licence or a category B driving licence achieved before 1995
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to 12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
