Early Years Assistant Teacher (Floating) - Traditional English Nursery School, Chelsea



We are a well-established and much-loved traditional English nursery school, situated in the heart of Chelsea, welcoming boys and girls aged 2 to 5 years. Our unique approach blends traditional nursery teaching methods with the Montessori Method to create a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where children flourish.

We believe in small-group learning, guided by qualified and experienced educators, where children are free to explore, investigate, and express their curiosity through purposeful play.

Floating Assistant Teacher

to join our dedicated and friendly team.

Job Title: Assistant Teacher (Floating Role)

Working Hours

: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 1:30 pm Term Time Only

The Role



As a Floating Assistant Teacher, you will support class teachers across various age groups (2-4+) and contribute to the planning and delivery of inspiring, play-based learning experiences. This is a dynamic and varied role, ideal for a creative, enthusiastic, and nurturing individual who values the importance of child-initiated learning.

Main Responsibilities



Support class teachers in planning and preparing daily activities and lessons. Assist with setting up and clearing the classroom each day. Provide tailored care and educational support to small groups of children. Foster effective, respectful relationships with parents and carers. Promote purposeful, interactive play that supports each child's development. Maintain a safe and clean learning environment and uphold safeguarding procedures. Attend team meetings and training sessions to support your professional development. Comply with all nursery policies, including health and safety and confidentiality.

Person Specification



Essential:



A recognised childcare qualification (e.g. Montessori Diploma, Level 3 Early Years, EYPS, BTEC) Sound knowledge of child development and the EYFS Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate Up-to-date Online DBS Check Proof of Right to Work in the UK Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures A warm, friendly and flexible approach Passion for play-based learning and a commitment to nurturing young children

Desirable:



Montessori training or experience in a Montessori setting Previous nursery or early years classroom experience Training in Health & Safety, Food Safety, or additional safeguarding certifications Willingness to undertake further professional development
