About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Flood Risk Officer to join our fast paced and expanding Flood and Water Management Team. As a Flood Risk Officer you will play a key role in supporting the work to help reduce local flood risk and the delivery of flood investigations.
What would you be doing?
Being an important part of the team, you would assist in the delivery of our statutory roles by:

  • Working to reduce flood risk throughout the county by forming close working partnerships with key agencies, community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Developing, managing and monitoring Property Flood Resilience schemes.
  • Investigating and reporting on significant flood events and using this as evidence to form effective recommendations to reduce risk through collaboration with communities and risk management authorities.
  • Opportunities to develop Natural Flood Management and conventional drainage schemes
  • Providing technical support and advice for works that affect watercourses
About you
We're looking for someone with a good understanding of drainage and flood risk management related matters. You would need to demonstrate experience and skills of project delivery, initiative, and time management. Experience of engaging and working with members of the public and external partners, such as other public sector organisations and landowners is also crucial to our growing team as we engage with multiple sectors.
This position requires a full driving license and willingness to travel across Norfolk and ideally you should also have experience of undertaking fieldwork, surveying, and working with GIS systems.
