PURPOSE OF ROLE




Under the overall control of the Head of Technology, to co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities for Food Technology lessons and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the Food Technology curriculum, including liaising with teaching staff


RESPONSIBILITIES




Key duties:

1. Prepare specific resources/ingredients/equipment for lessons, as directed

2. lifting and moving equipment

3. Maintain sufficient supplies of materials to enable delivery of lessons

4. Safely and securely store allocated equipment and materials to prevent unauthorised access / misuse

5. Clean and undertake day to day maintenance of equipment as needed and as directed to ensure it is clean and in good working order

6. Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations and take action where hazards are identified, including reporting any serious hazards to the line manager

7. Undertake basic record keeping as directed.

8. Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances, and respond to actual or potential hazards.

9. Ensure dangerous kitchen equipment is kept in optimum condition and stored correctly

10. Regularly maintain the equipment and tools in the classroom

11. Keep all classrooms organised and free from hazards

12. To assist Food Technology staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning

13. Stock-taking and ordering of materials, ingredients, and equipment

14. To provide support for the teacher during practical lessons

15. To assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of Food Technology both in school and out

16. To undertake such other tasks relevant to the work of the Technology Department or the needs of the school as they may arise

17. To provide primary first aid over withing the school to students and staff, supporting students routinely with specific medical needs as necessary



Any other duties required, commensurate with the responsibility and level of this post.



Individuals in this role may also undertake some or all of the following:

1. Assist in delivering practical learning activities for pupils

2. Provide clerical and administrative support as directed

3. Order supplies as directed
