Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Food Technologist with a strong background in protein powder and health powder formulation and development. This role focuses on innovating and optimizing high-quality protein-based and wellness powder products for health, wellness, and sports nutrition markets. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of functional ingredients, protein sources (e.g., whey, casein, plant-based, collagen), flavour masking, stability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Formulation Development: Design, test, and optimize protein powder formulas for taste, solubility, texture, shelf life, and nutritional profile.
Ingredient Sourcing & Evaluation: Assess and select raw materials such as protein concentrates/isolates, natural flavours, sweeteners, and functional additives.
Prototype Creation: Prepare lab-scale prototypes and coordinate pilot plant trials for new product concepts.
Sensory & Stability Testing: Conduct organoleptic evaluations and shelf-life studies to ensure quality and consistency.
Process Optimization: Collaborate with production teams to scale up formulations from lab to commercial scale.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain technical specifications, batch sheets, and ensure formulations comply with local and international food safety and labelling regulations.
Innovation Monitoring: Stay updated with current trends in protein and health powder innovation, novel sources, and emerging technologies.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, regulatory, procurement, and quality assurance teams to bring products from concept to market
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in protein product development or formulation, preferably within the food, beverage, or nutraceutical industry.
Solid understanding of different protein types and their functional and sensory properties.
Experience with plant-based and/or dairy proteins is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food industry regulations (e.g., FDA, EFSA, FSANZ).
Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
