The role
We are looking for a collision investigation technical manager to join our team on a part-time basis. You will need to have proven experience of working as a Collision Investigator.
There is flexibility for the role to be full-time if that is a preferable option for the right candidate. Within a full-time role the position would also offer the opportunity to carry out case work through presenting evidence in Civil and Criminal Courts and providing expert advice to clients. (Under this arrangement, applicants must have long-term residency in the UK due to the long-term nature of Expert Witness responsibilities).
The role will involve in-depth analysis into road collisions, including those resulting in fatalities and serious injuries. The nature of this work requires resilience, attention to detail and a strong understanding of the UK legal system.
Successful candidates can be based UK wide with some travel expected.
Key responsibilities
Technical reviews:
Primary responsibility for carrying out peer reviews of technical reports; checking the quality and consistency of expert reports and providing feedback in an objective and constructive way
Identify and propose any alternative scenarios, methods of investigation or research that might be applicable to a particular case or could be used to validate the results
Identify areas for improvement, coach and mentor team members, contribute to team meetings and participate in quality management review sessions
Technical Manager for the Forensic Investigations team:
Primary responsibility for maintaining our QMS system - reviewing existing documentation and highlighting areas requiring updating
Ensure we fulfil the requirements of the Forensic Science Regulator and addressing any actions that arise
Ensuring the team are up to date with all FSR requirements
Assist Forensic Lead with new enquiries and case allocation:
Dealing with clients to understand their requirements
Allocating cases to the most appropriate expert
Essential Skills and Experience
. Extensive experience in forensic collision investigation and vehicle examination.
Knowledge of key principles of collision investigation and developments within the discipline.
Relevant training and experience in forensic video analysis.
Experience in producing and reviewing technical reports with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong communication skills
. Experience presenting evidence in Court (full-time position only)
Full UK driving licence (full-time position only)
Desirable Skills and Experience
. Experience retrieving and analysing vehicle electronic data (EDRs, telematics).
Knowledge of inspecting electric vehicles and related safety protocols.
An interest in injury causation.
Training qualifications in collision investigation or other equivalent teaching/training experience.
