A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Border Chainsaw & Lawnmower Services, based in Earlston.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Forest & Garden MachineryMechanic to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time, permanent position primarily based in our workshop, with some off-site work involving machinery repairs, deliveries, and collections.

We are approved dealers for Stihl, Husqvarna, Mountfield, and Ego, as well as choice dealers for Ferris and Etesia commercial products. The role is Monday to Friday, 8am to5pm, working within a close-knit team of five mechanics.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on forest and garden machinery and equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently to minimise downtime. Collaborate with the operations team to ensure machinery operates at optimal levels. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Mechanic or similar role. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Relevant technical certifications or qualifications are preferred.
Previous mechanical experience is essential; however, industry-specific training will be provided through a range of dealer courses and in-house development opportunities.
