We are looking for a reliable and motivated

Yard Operative

to join our team at Walford Timber Ltd in Chesham. In this role, you will be responsible for handling and preparing customer orders, maintaining a well-organized yard, and ensuring safe working practices at all times. Key Responsibilities:

Order Picking & Loading

- Accurately pick products from picking notes and load customers' vehicles using both manual handling and forklifts where appropriate.

Customer Service

- Assist customers with their purchases in a professional and friendly manner.

Stock Management

- Unload deliveries, correctly place stock, and ensure stock rotation is maintained.

Housekeeping & Safety

- Maintain a clean and organized yard, following 5S principles and safe working practices.

Forklift Operation

- Perform all required forklift checks and operate safely

Liaison

- Communicate effectively with sales staff and customers to ensure smooth operations.

Good timekeeping & reliability
Friendly, approachable, and professional attitude
Ability to work efficiently and maintain a tidy workspace
Willingness to learn and follow safety guidelines
Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred but not essential
Basic maths skills for inventory management
