We are hiring a full-time Creative Laboratory Manager.
In this pivotal role, you will manage the creative lab in terms of coordinating workload priorities, staffing, budgets, consumables and equipment in conjunction with line manager and Senior laboratory technicians, whilst ensuring overall lab safety, cleanliness and organisation.
Responsibilities
Maintain the effective daily operation of the both the fragrance compounding and application areas of the creative laboratory, including managing staffing, stock control and safe labelling and storage of ingredients and compounds.
Manage and support the laboratory team, fostering collaboration, performance, and development.
Ensure that all laboratory technicians are trained and follow all health & safety, GMP and standard operating procedures, and that appropriate risk assessments are in place.
Coordinate daily lab activities and attend cross-departmental meetings. Develop approaches to improve work efficiency, ensure collaboration of cross-functional teams within the Creative laboratory. Effectively communicating with all colleagues especially Evaluation, perfumers and Sales Manager to ensure timely coordination of projects.
Drive continuous improvement & innovation of high-quality fragranced samples, ensuring aspects of samples and packaging align with safety protocol, sustainable, cost effective and quality expectations.
Coordinate stability testing and accurate recording, investigate and solve technical challenges related to fragrance and base solubility, performance and colouration issues
Manage lab expenditure, provide monitoring and involvement in setting annual agreed budgets to procure consumables, base ingredients and small equipment as required.
Manage a safe operation and maintenance of all Laboratory equipment. Ensure regular servicing and the purchasing of supplies for equipment operation within the laboratory.
Provide product development & innovation of application bases used to demonstrate our fragrances, ensuring their development follows strict regulatory and safety protocols, whilst keeping track of current market trends.
Experience
Proven leadership experience in a laboratory management supervisory role, with a strong track record of managing teams and driving positive change.
Experience in the fragrance, ingredients or consumer products industry, with a good understanding of fragrance composition and its applications.
Strong understanding of GMP and Health and safety standards within a lab.
A degree in Chemistry, formulation science or a related field, would be an advantage.
