As part of our dynamic and growing franchise network, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our franchisees to establish their businesses, ensuring profitability, and helping them navigate the exciting journey of opening and running a nursery.

About the Role:


You'll work closely with the Head of Business Operations and the Franchise Team to deliver commercial impact across the network. You'll support franchisees from the initial stages of onboarding and beyond, with a strong focus on network profitability, business growth, and occupancy.

The Franchise Development Manager is a key role in Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, working closely with the Head of Business Operations and the Executive Team.

The Franchise Development Manager will be responsible for supporting our existing franchisees to grow their business and profitability. They will also be responsible for building relationships with franchisees during the initial stages of onboarding and opening their nursery.

This is a role that will have a commercial impact on both Monkey Puzzle and the franchisee.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience



Background in Childcare & experience in Commercial Franchising as a group is essential.



Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management skills

Able to effectively prioritise and organise time efficiently

Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft 365

Experience of reading and analysing financial information, such as P&L's, management information and annual accounts

Able to set and manage budgets

Ability to use initiative but also able to escalate matters where needed

Proactive and a clear desire to set high standards

Accuracy and attention to detail

Target driven

Confidence to be able to work independently and self-motivated, with flexibility to work well as part of a team

Ability to travel to all MPDN settings. Occasional overnight stay may be required.

Experienced in leading childcare settings with a demonstratable track record of operating a highly effective quality setting

Minimum Level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification preferred but not essential

Experience of multisite working and management

Key Responsibilities



To work closely with our Head of Business Operations to maximise all opportunities with a strong focus on network profitability

Collaborate with marketing, IT and operations to build strong internal relationships

Lead and develop professional relationships with potential and existing franchisees

Support existing franchisees with budget tracking and operational plans to promote profitability

Focus on staffing efficiency whilst analysing staffing costs as a percentage of revenue

Support existing franchisees with building occupancy. working cross-functionally with Marketing

Support existing franchisees with their funding model, fee sheets, and enhance their knowledge and understanding of funding. Ensure the funding models are used effectively in line with entitlement and profitability

Review annual fee increases with competitor analysis, whilst continuing to coach and mentor Franchisees

Support franchisees with annual salary increases with local analysis, ensuring financial viability

Create and develop strategies to ensure financial challenges within the network are identified and supported at an early stage.

Support franchisees to meet KPI's around revenue, staffing and budgets.

Work with franchisees to maintain low levels of debt and support with early action.

Keep new franchisees accountable and motivated through regular contact

To attend fortnightly project update meetings

To support franchisees during their initial months with the business and opening of their nursery.

Educate and induct potential and new franchisees on the opportunity and expectations - explaining process, requirements, and financials

Support franchisees with their initial cashflow, forecasting and budgeting, whilst in the build phase

Day to day relationship-building to push the industry awareness of the network
