Job Overview

We are seeking an out of the box thinker to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management, ideally with experience in cooking on open fire. This is a freelance role, offering flexibility to suit you, but focussed on a busy summer period. The successful applicant will demonstrate leadership skills, problem solving, and a commitment to excellence in hospitality. A driving license is required, and you will be expected to drive a hired van.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient food production and service Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards Collaborate with front-of-house teams to deliver outstanding customer service Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and minimise waste through effective stock control Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times

Experience

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within an event catering setting Supervising experience with the ability to manage a team effectively Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations relevant to the UK hospitality industry Experience in menu food presentation Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Previous experience serving customers or working within a hospitality context is advantageous
Job Type: Freelance

Pay: 13.74-17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 45 per week
