Job Summary

We are seeking a warm, patient, and skilled Freelance Maternity, Newborn & Baby Photographer to capture beautiful, emotive portraits for our growing studio. The ideal candidate will have experience working with expectant mothers, newborns, and young children, and will be confident creating a calm, safe, and supportive environment throughout each session. This role focuses exclusively on photoshoots and ordering appointments--no photo editing or post-production is required. Flexible scheduling and the opportunity to create meaningful artwork for families make this a rewarding position.

Duties

Plan and conduct maternity, newborn, baby, and family photoshoots in studio Safely pose and handle newborns, ensuring all sessions follow best-practice safety standards Guide parents through the session with patience, reassurance, and clear direction Conduct in-person ordering appointments to help clients select their favourite images, products, and wall art Uphold and communicate the studio's artistic style and brand experience Prepare and maintain studio spaces, props, wraps, and equipment before and after sessions Manage client communication related to scheduling, session flow, and ordering Maintain a professional demeanour and create a warm, supportive client experience from start to finish Stay updated on trends in newborn and maternity posing, styling, and photography techniques
Experience

Proven experience in maternity, newborn, or family portrait photography with a portfolio showcasing this work Strong understanding of newborn safety, posing, and soothing techniques Ability to work confidently with studio lighting and natural light Excellent interpersonal skills--able to remain calm, warm, and communicative with babies and parents Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage sessions and client interactions independently Experience in conducting sales or ordering appointments is highly desirable but not essential
Compensation & Flexibility

This is a paid freelance position with hours scheduled every other weekend, as well as every other Thursday and Friday. It's a perfect fit for a photographer who loves capturing life's earliest moments but prefers not to handle editing or post-production. You get to focus solely on shooting--while enjoying a predictable, flexible schedule.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.00-16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
