We are seeking a dedicated and skilled driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial driving and delivery, with a focus on safety and efficiency. This role involves operating 3.5 tonne box vans and lutons, to transport goods while ensuring compliance with all regulations. The successful applicant will also have mechanical knowledge to assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of vehicles.
This job does include hours in the early morning and late at night. Normal hours delivery/collections are 15 per hour (between 07:00-23:00). Delivery/ collections made out of hours will be paid 25 per hour.
Responsibilities
Operate commercial vehicles, for the safe delivery of goods.
Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
Navigate routes efficiently while adhering to delivery schedules.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and clients regarding delivery status and any issues that may arise.
Assist in loading and unloading goods at the warehouse or delivery site.
Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles and report any issues promptly.
Skills
Proven experience as a delivery driver.
Strong commercial driving skills with a valid driving licence.
Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
Previous warehouse experience is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
