Freight Account Executive

Job Description

To manage and grow a portfolio of small to medium freight accounts within the assigned region by fostering strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue, yield, and volume growth in alignment with the Freight Commercial Division's annual objectives. This role also provides proactive, day-to-day support to Freight, UNACC, and VP customers, ensuring a high standard of service delivery and contributing to a collaborative and customer-focused commercial environment.

Revenue Growth and Portfolio Management

: Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 170 freight and VP accounts, generating an average annual revenue of EUR4 million per person, in line with commercial targets.

Customer Relationship Development

: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities within the assigned region.

Prospecting and Lead Generation

: Conduct targeted prospecting using internal databases (e.g., status 3 customers) and external sources such as trade publications, port visits, and truck stop outreach.

Operational Communication

: Maintain efficient and timely communication with Freight, UNACC, and VP customers, especially during delays, claims, or operational issues, ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction.

Customer Support and Service Delivery

: Provide high-quality support to Freight, UNACC, and VP customers, including onboarding, account setup, and day-to-day assistance, with an anticipated 70% focus on portfolio management and 30% on support functions.

Product and Service Promotion

: Educate and promote new and existing services such as FIRST, Border Pass Easy, and other digital and border-related tools to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

Compliance and Procedure Adherence

: Ensure full compliance with Eurotunnel procedures, including credit risk management, pricing, contracts, and account setup protocols.

Customer Engagement

: Conduct site visits independently or with Freight Sales Managers, attend trade shows, and represent LeShuttle Freight to promote services and strengthen customer relationships.

System Utilisation

: Effectively use a range of internal systems and tools, including Chemdata, CRM, SAP, AFS, VTS, AMD, GETOPS, Oracle, Marcus, Elite, Extranet, CCC, and CIL Reporting to manage customer data and support decision-making.

Team Collaboration

: Work collaboratively with the Freight Commercial Department to ensure seamless service delivery and support for all customer segments, including potential clients.

Qualifications and Experience



Further education such as A-Levels, a diploma in International Trade, or equivalent qualifications or experience in a related field Background in international trade, business, or commercial environments is beneficial Familiarity with LeShuttle Freight's commercial offering and customer base is an advantage Experience in account management and customer-facing roles Willingness to travel internationally Awareness of hazardous goods regulations (ADR) and Eurotunnel-specific requirements is a plus Understanding of the transport and haulage industry is highly valued Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional telephone manner Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Comfortable representing the company in professional settings, both internally and externally Familiarity with LeShuttle Freight's structure, policies, and products is advantageous Confidence using a variety of business systems (e.g., Chemdata, CRM, SAP, AFS, VTS, AMD, GETOPS, Oracle, Marcus, Elite, Extranet, CCC, CIL Reporting) For Continental Markets: Fluent spoken and written English, plus fluency in the local language of the assigned region For UK & Ireland Market: Fluent spoken and written English required; proficiency in another language would be an advantage Takes initiative, acts with confidence, and solves problems in real time. Enthusiastic about learning and developing the skills required for the role. Presentable and confident, projecting a positive image of self and Eurotunnel. A valid driving license and passport are essential.
