Alongside general haulage and pallet distribution, we also offer secure warehousing and storage solutions.
We are now creating a
new Forwarding Department
to strengthen margins on subcontracted work and provide additional customer services. This is a fantastic opportunity to join at the ground floor of a new team and grow with the department.
Role Summary
This position is designed to support both the General Haulage and Pallet Network operations while helping to establish our new forwarding function.

, there is scope to bring immediate value by shaping the new forwarding function, improving margins, and strengthening customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Forwarding Support (New Department)
Source subcontractors for UK & European loads, ensuring competitive rates and reliable service.
Prepare quotations for customers, comparing network, forwarding, and direct haulage options.
Monitor subcontracted jobs, ensuring updates are communicated to customers and the Haulage Manager.
Record and track costs, margins, and service performance.
General Haulage & Pallet Network Assistance
Answer customer calls and emails, providing updates, PODs, and information.
Input and update job details into TMS and network portals.
Check and file delivery paperwork, including PODs, invoices, and claims.
Support driver coordination, job allocation, and collections when required.
Customer Service & Administration
Deliver professional communication with customers and subcontractors.
Assist with chasing PODs, resolving delivery issues, and escalating problems.
Prepare simple reports on volumes, costs, and service performance.
Skills & Attributes
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Confident communicator (phone and email).
Numerate and comfortable working with costs, quotes, and invoices.
Able to work under pressure in a busy transport office.
Flexible and eager to learn new areas (forwarding, networks, haulage).
Commercially aware with an eye for margin improvement.
Experience & Qualifications
Office or admin background (logistics experience an advantage).
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English required.
For junior candidates: no prior forwarding experience required, full training provided.
For experienced candidates: prior experience in freight forwarding, haulage, or pallet networks would be a significant advantage, with the opportunity to influence and grow the department.
