Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Front End Developer to join our Informatics team. You'll play a key role in building the customer-facing UI that directly interacts with our sequencing devices.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director, Instrument UI, and working closely with others in the UI team, you'll contribute to the development of our customer-facing applications. You will help design and implement user-facing features, work collaboratively to define specifications, and contribute throughout the development cycle using tools such as Jira, GitLab, and code review processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop responsive, intuitive, and accessible customer-facing features Build and maintain re-usable components and libraries Optimise applications for performance, scalability, and reliability Collaborate with product owners and other stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver solutions Support development across a range of device form factors - from desktop to mobile

What We're Looking For

You'll bring previous experience building web applications using React, ideally for customer-facing products. You're someone who takes initiative, is eager to learn, and enjoys collaborating and sharing knowledge with others.

Essential Skills

Solid experience developing with React and TypeScript Strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+) concepts and best practices Proficient in TailwindCSS for building responsive, maintainable, and scalable UIs Experienced in integrating and managing data from RESTful APIs, utilising libraries like TanStack Query for efficient data fetching and caching Good grasp of component-based architecture and front-end design principles

Desirable Experience

While not essential, experience with the following would be beneficial:
