The Challenge

Building intuitive interfaces for AI agents is one of the most exciting unsolved problems in tech today. As our second frontend hire, you'll pioneer new patterns for human-AI collaboration, bridging design vision and technical implementation to create interfaces that make complex AI reasoning transparent, trustworthy, and delightful.

What You'll Do

------------------

Pioneer AI-first user experiences:

Design and build groundbreaking interfaces that translate AI power into user trust. You'll craft conversation flows, live incident dashboards, and visual debugging tools that demystify AI reasoning--visualizing causal chains, surfacing uncertainty, and making complex system states beautiful and understandable.

Build high-performance frontend infrastructure:

Advance our frontend architecture, building a robust, scalable component library using React, TypeScript, and modern state management. Implement real-time data streaming and optimise for sub-100ms interactions.

Drive design systems:

Own our design language and component library, ensuring visual consistency while maintaining development velocity. You'll make design decisions autonomously, from micro-interactions to full-page layouts.

Shape product direction:

Work directly with founders and early customers to rapidly prototype and iterate on features. Your insights will directly influence our roadmap and go-to-market strategy.

Scale the team:

As we grow, you'll help recruit, mentor, and lead the next wave of frontend engineers, establishing best practices and building a world-class engineering culture.

Who You Are

An AI-native engineer:

You're already using AI as an essential part of your workflow. You've discovered creative ways to leverage AI for rapid prototyping, debugging complex issues, or exploring architectural decisions. You see AI tools as force multipliers, not crutches.

A pragmatic craftsperson:

You balance strong JavaScript/TS coding skills and a deep understanding of CSS with expertise in crafting maintainable application architecture. You write clean, scalable code but know when to be practical to meet business goals.

A design-conscious builder:

You have a keen eye for visual design, typography, and spacing. Whether self-taught or formally trained, you can create polished interfaces without waiting for mockups. You're comfortable with Figma for quick explorations but prefer to design in code.

A curious and adaptable technologist:

You balance technical conviction with openness to new ideas. Guided by solid engineering principles rather than hype, you embrace worthwhile advancements in the JavaScript ecosystem.

An empathetic communicator:

You embody both technical leadership and a learner's mindset, communicating complex ideas with patience while readily seeking feedback.

Driven by user impact, you think critically about the "why" behind features and contribute to product decisions that deliver real value.
