Keystone Education Group is seeking an experienced and innovative Frontend Engineer to join our growing Data and AI squad. While based primarily in

Sheffield, UK

, we offer hybrid working and can also accommodate candidates in

Stockholm, Sweden

. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in developing sophisticated front-end applications that will directly impact our ability to deliver personalized and valuable experiences to students worldwide.


As our Frontend Engineer, you'll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the user interfaces for our customer data platform. You'll work closely with backend engineers, data engineers, and product managers within the Data and AI squad to transform complex data into user-friendly applications. This role requires not only strong front-end expertise but also a keen understanding of how to integrate with various data sources and APIs, including

GraphQL

, to create seamless user experiences. You'll champion best practices in front-end development, ensuring the scalability, performance, and maintainability of our applications.


We're looking for a seasoned front-end professional with a proven track record of building and deploying impactful web applications. You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Essential Foundational Skills:



Deep proficiency in React and Next.js:

Extensive experience building complex, scalable, and performant web applications.

Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills:

Expert-level understanding of modern JavaScript and TypeScript.

Solid understanding of web fundamentals:

HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.

Experience with API integration:

Proven ability to connect front-end applications with RESTful APIs and

GraphQL APIs

.

Version control with Git:

Proficient in collaborative development workflows.

Understanding of full-stack application architecture:

Familiarity with how front-end applications interact with backend systems.

Experience working in agile development environments

and familiarity with CI/CD practices.

Our Technology Environment




You'll be working within a modern tech stack that leverages cutting-edge technologies. Our front-end stack is primarily centered around

React

and

Next.js

. We utilize both

Vercel

and

AWS Amplify

for the seamless deployment and hosting of our applications, depending on project requirements. Our cloud data stack sits within GCP, using a BigQuery based warehouse.

Skills




Beyond the core competencies, success in this role hinges on specific, hands-on experience in the following areas:

Next.js Expertise:

Demonstrable experience with server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and API routes within Next.js.

GraphQL Experience:

Practical experience querying and mutating data using GraphQL.

Data Visualization:

Experience with libraries or frameworks for effectively visualizing complex data, such as Recharts or Apex.

Performance Optimization:

Proven ability to optimize web application performance for speed and responsiveness.

Testing Frameworks:

Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress) to ensure code quality and reliability.

Highly Desirable:

Experience working with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) or similar data-intensive applications. Although not essential, experience working with backend technologies such as .NET would be a bonus.

The tech team works as an in-house tech department, based in Stockholm, with the GenAI and Data team based in the UK. The responsibilities of the team encompass developing technical platforms and solutions to lay the ground for the rest of the business at Keystone Education Group.
