Veterinary receptionist required to join our caring, friendly team.
This role includes one in three Saturday mornings, and at least two shifts that finish at 6.30pm. We can accept applications for either full or part-time roles.
If you are a person who would like to settle down and build relationships with our lovely clients; a receptionist with empathy for the patient and owner, excellent communication skills and telephone manner, you should apply. You must be extremely efficient, even under pressure.
Receptionists are highly valued members of our team.
Priority will be given to those with prior experience as a veterinary receptionist, but full training could be provided for a person with transferable skills who wishes to transition into the veterinary profession .
You will receive 4 weeks' paid holiday per year, plus Bank Holidays. There will be no out of hours work. Work shifts are 8.15am to 6.30pm Mondays to Fridays; and 8.15am to 12.30 on Saturdays.
This role would suit someone who is a team player and who is able to work in a busy environment, and prefers a small friendly team. Those that can walk or arrive by public transport will find this easier, as we have no staff parking on one of our sites.
The role may include shifts at our Rottingdean or Peacehaven sites.
Duties would include:
Answering the telephone and dealing with client queries, including via email and social media.
Booking, cancelling, and changing appointments using Animana, our computerised practice management system.
Processing and recording payments.
Completing the end of day reconciliation procedures.
Keeping client/patient records up to date.
Ensuring the reception area is always kept clean and tidy.
Dispensing veterinary medications, after suitable training.
Communicating with other veterinary practices.
The Mewes Vets is a multi-award winning small animal independent RCVS accredited veterinary clinic. Established 29 years in central Haywards Heath, we treat pets as friends, and endeavour to have the same vet see that pet on its every visit, allowing us a closer bond with our patients, which we call our 'one pet one vet' concept.
In 2022 we opened a separate clinic in the lovely village of Rottingdean, and its sister branch in Peacehaven in 2023, with Dr Julia Mewes taking the lead as both business owner and the village vet. We have two vets, three experienced RVNs, and three experienced receptionists, and need additional support as we grow.
Last year we were shortlisted at Rottingdean in the VetHelpDirect BestUKVets awards, and this year our Peacehaven clinic was a finalist in the Seahaven business awards.
If you would like to join our award winning team, and be part of making this first opinion clinic a huge success, send a covering letter along with your CV, and an animal related joke.
Please note that this role is not suited to anyone hoping to transfer into veterinary nursing as we are not a training practice.
