We are seeking passionate Practitioners to join one of our incredible teams in Bangor.



As a Practitioner for Mencap, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.


About the Team and the Role




Deliver person-led, high-quality support that turns Positive Behaviour Support plans into everyday actions, upholding rights, dignity and choice. Figure out the environment, spot early signs of distress, and adjust routines and sensory input to prevent escalation. Work closely with families and, in collaboration with

Advanced or Specialist Practitioner,

the multidisciplinary team (e.g. psychology, PBS, social work, OT) to provide joined-up support. Build independence in daily living and community participation, replacing restrictions with safe, meaningful alternatives. Make clear, time-critical decisions in the moment and keep accurate ABC/data records that shape reviews and improve outcomes. Notice and report changes in behaviour, health or wellbeing, escalating concerns promptly in line with policy. Take part in debriefs and reflective practice, using learning from incidents to reset plans and strengthen support. Contribute to safeguarding, proportionate risk assessments and crisis responses using least-restrictive approaches.
