Barista - Kiln, Newcastle

Kiln is a vibrant cafe, restaurant and cocktail bar based in the heart of Ouseburn, Newcastle. Home to a renowned ceramics studio and a fast-growing reputation for exceptional hospitality, Kiln blends creativity with craft across food, drink and design.

We're looking for a passionate, skilled and experienced barista to join our team. This is a key role within our daytime operation - someone who can confidently prepare and serve outstanding coffee, bring energy to the front of house, and work closely with the cafe team to ensure our drinks offering remains one of the best in the city.

About You

Confident on a coffee machine and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong foundation in espresso preparation, milk texturing and latte art, with a focus on consistency and quality. Personable, reliable and great with guests - you understand how to create a welcoming and elevated experience without taking yourself too seriously. Enjoy working as part of a tight-knit team and take pride in the details.
Bonus Skills (not essential but very welcome)

Experience with different filter methods (V60, Aeropress, batch brew etc). Interest in coffee origins, roasting and flavour development. Flexibility to support service beyond coffee - from wine to cocktails - as part of a varied role.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve consistently high-quality coffees with speed and care. Maintain coffee equipment and ensure it's clean, calibrated and running at its best. Deliver an outstanding guest experience - warm, attentive and knowledgeable. Work closely with the wider FOH team to keep service flowing smoothly. Keep the bar area clean, organised and well-stocked at all times. Follow all health & safety and hygiene standards.
