Neighbourhood is seeking a Chef to join our team in Chester. This position is responsible for the daily supervision of food preparation and service at Neighbourhood Bakehouse.
Neighbourhood is a Mediterranean Restaurant serving brunch through to evening service on Northgate street Chester, serving wide range of breakfasts, pasta, pizzas, salads, pies, tapas etc
We hold Live Jazz evenings monthly, live music with bottomless brunch and hold private events regularly.
Also involved in preparation of our evening menu- from roast meats / vegan produce / homemade sauces / attention to detail is upmost important, presentation of food is key
The role involves working shifts across the week, we are open Monday - Sunday with our Evening Service wed-Saturday
Experience following all food safety requirements is of paramount importance from HACCP / COSHH/ food safety practices etc
We are looking for a chef to assist with prepping made to order sandwiches, breakfast orders to include poached eggs, roast meats, etc the role will include preparation of breakfast goods and daily sandwiches / soups / quiche, experience in pastry would be a bonus but not essential

previous experience working in a fast paced kitchen is important, we take on orders for sitting in and take away service , so can get very busy.
previous experience working under pressure and with time restraints is crucial
Duties:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the kitchen
- Plan and create menus based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to recipes and food safety standards
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to culinary standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating presentations
- Strong hospitality skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- Proven experience in supervising and leading a team of kitchen staff
- Proficient in food safety regulations and practices
- Culinary creativity and ability to develop innovative menu items
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Chef or in a similar role
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred, but not required
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
