Hours Full Time - 37 between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm



Mon-Fri



Salary To Be Agreed



Responsible to The Practice Manager



Base Castle Practice, Carrickfergus Health Centre



CRITERIA



Essential



4 GCSEs Grades A to D to include English or Maths / or NVQ Level 2 in Administration
RSA Stage 2 Typing or Word Processing
Plus 2 years clerical experience and ability to demonstrate computer skills

OR


5 years clerical experience with RSA Stage 2 Typing or Word Processing and ability to demonstrate computer skills

Desirable



A background in working in a HPSS environment
Knowledge of a paperless office environment
A background working in a customer service environment
Knowledge of the EMISWeb system

Summary Of Role



Aim



In a team of Patient Services Advisors, under the direction of the Office Manager and the Practice Manager, is to provide a high standard of Patient Services in a busy
General Practice Reception and Administration Area. The Practice operates a paperless administration system for appointments and other patient services.

Main Duties



Using the paperless administration system Dealing with patients face to face and by telephone and use of online services Making appointments Greeting and direction of patients o To include greeting and direction during Vaccination Clinics Facilitating patient service requirements, eg, requests for prescriptions, test results, queries, dealing with outside agencies, ie, secondary care, insurance companies and solicitors offices

Administrating Patient Records



Data input Electronic scanning Telephone and postal duties Filing of patient records Processing Practice Notes, liaison between GPs and patients Word processing patient reports Online services prescription request, emails, etc

Job Title - Temporary Patient Services Advisor



Team Working



Participating in Team Working and Team Training to maintain quality standards set by the Practice
Participating in daily work rota system
Adhering to protocols set by the Practice for quality standards

Holidays



20 days per annum (increasing to 27 over 10 years) plus 11 statutory and public holidays.

Probationary Period



6 months during which time they will be required to complete an induction and training programme to the satisfaction of the Practice.

Health



Successful applicant will be required to complete a health declaration.

Staff Uniform



The Practice will provide staff with uniform after 6 months probationary period; prior to this time, the post holder will be required to wear appropriate dress - currently scrubs

Staff Appraisal


The post holder will be required to participate in annual appraisal.

Review


We will review this job description and it may include any other duties and responsibilities we determine in consultation with the post holder; it is not rigid and inflexible but used as a guideline to the role of Patient Services Advisor in Castle
Practice.
