Functional Skills Tutor

Salary Range: 16,644.67 - 21,479.67

(salary based on 32 hours /4 days per week 37 weeks per year)

FTE: 25,494.48 - 32,900.20

We have an exciting opportunity for a Tutor to teach Functional skills to groups of students with mixed abilities, aged 16 to 25, at Coleg Plas Dwbl in Pembrokeshire. The post holder will be required to deliver high quality functional skills tuition, which meets the needs of the individual students in line with external requirements and the Trust Assessment Recording Framework. Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and have experience of teaching / training.

The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching and hold a teaching qualification. However, we would still welcome applications from individuals who have not yet achieved this but are willing to train and learn.

You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours.

The key duties in this role will include:

To assess, plan and deliver functional skills in literacy and numeracy to all students on an individual or group basis according to students learning needs and requirements.

To work alongside tutors and students in craft and practical subjects to embed functional skills. To work as a part of the functional skills team to develop a high-quality functional skills program within the college. To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required, minimising barriers to learning and achievement. To deliver the education remit to students as defined by the Assessment Recording Framework.

Coleg Plas Dwbl sits on biodynamic farmland at the foot of the Preseli Mountains in the Welsh countryside.
