Community Projects Lead and Trustees

Start Date:

1st August 2025

Salary:

24,000 per annum

Hours:

Part-time, 3 days per week (0.6 FTE)
Equivalent to a full-time salary of 40,000 per annum

Contract:

14-month contract (with a 3-month probation period). Renewal subject to further funding.

Llanelli Foodbank is operated by Myrtle House and is more than just a place where people collect emergency food parcels - it's a vital community lifeline offering hope, dignity, and practical support to individuals and families facing hardship. Through our partnerships, volunteers, and wider support services, we not only provide food but also help people access the advice and assistance they need to move out of crisis.

About the Role



The role requires a natural connector with a passion for making a difference. Llanelli Foodbank is seeking a Fundraising Officer who can inspire local businesses and communities to support those facing food insecurity.

Every pound raised means another meal on the table for a family in need. As our Fundraising Officer, you'll play a key role in securing vital funding that helps us feed hundreds of people in crisis while expanding our support services for long-term change.

This role is all about building meaningful relationships - whether it's engaging with local businesses, inspiring community fundraising, or applying for grants. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring we can continue to support those in crisis, expand our reach, and create a lasting impact in Llanelli.

Key Responsibilities



Identify and approach local businesses to become funding partners. Showcase the impact of funders support and explore ways to deepen their involvement. Develop creative fundraising campaigns to encourage more local giving from community groups, associations, schools and churches aiming to increase public donations by 50% within a year. Work with Llanelli Foodbank team and volunteers to organise community initiatives that raise awareness and inspire people to get involved. Identify relevant grants and funding opportunities to support the foodbank's work. Maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding bodies. Keep track of all fundraising activities and provide clear, insightful reports on progress and impact.

Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with staff, volunteers, and wider partners, reflecting our core values of kindness, fairness, dignity, and respect in every interaction. Attend regular team meetings, supervision sessions and performance reviews.

Who We're Looking For



Skills & Experience



Proven experience as a professional fundraiser and proven track record of fundraising success with individuals, businesses and/or community fundraising. Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and inspire audiences, provide excellent stewardship and craft compelling funding proposals and appeals. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and report effectively against fundraising priorities. Strong IT skills and experience of using fundraising databases. A team player with a genuine passion for community work and social justice. Enthusiastic, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to embrace and shape a new role. Highly organised and self-motivated, able to plan, prioritise, and manage your workload independently.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience



Knowledge of the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practise. Professional fund-raising qualification. Experience of costing projects for grant applications. Experienced of monitoring and evaluating outcomes of grant applications. Welsh speaker or learner.
