We are currently recruiting for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Funds team in London.
Department purpose
Our Global Asset Management Group advises asset managers and investment funds on establishing a full range of private funds, closed-ended and open-ended across the full range of alternative strategies and the associated regulatory and compliance requirements for investment funds and investment managers. We also have a highly active investor-side practice advising institutional investors including sovereign wealth funds on investing into a wide range of structures from traditional funds to bespoke co-investment structures and associated legal and regulatory issues. Our Asset Management Group is very international in nature. With nearly 50 offices across the globe, many of which work regularly on asset management matters, and with many of our clients overseas, our lawyers work on a cross-border basis every day.
Role and responsibilities
The group's range of work is very diverse. You will regularly draft, review and negotiate key fund documentation such as PPMs, LPAs and constitutional documents, as well as investment management, depositary, brokerage/clearing and similar agreements. The team also covers AIFMD and MIFID regulation re asset management and you will also build up a strong regulatory knowledge tailored to your asset management practice. As the asset management industry enters into an exciting new phase, we think there is no better place to be to develop a cutting-edge, diverse and interesting practice combining core advisory skills with the buzz of transactional work for a variety of major UK and international clients.
Key requirements
English qualified lawyer, with 4-8 years' post qualified experience within asset management and private funds
Strong academics and legal training
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and versatility
Self-starter with the desire and ability to continuously acquire, build upon and share knowledge
Detail-focused and willing to push on to get things done correctly
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Excellent client relationship skills
Sound experience of operating at associate level within a complex international organisation
Strong commercial/business acumen with the ability to deliver creative and pragmatic solutions and advice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Collaborative team player with the ability to develop and work in a fast paced, intellectually rigorous environment
A person of sound judgment, able to establish a high level of credibility
