We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director to oversee all aspects of funeral arrangements and services. The successful candidate will provide support to grieving families with dignity and empathy, ensuring that all ceremonies are conducted respectfully and efficiently. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with sensitivity. The Funeral Director will be responsible for coordinating logistics, liaising with clients, and supervising funeral staff to deliver a meaningful farewell for loved ones.
Responsibilities
Meet with bereaved families to discuss funeral arrangements and personal preferences
Coordinate transportation of the deceased, including preparation and transfer to the funeral venue
Organise and oversee funeral ceremonies, ensuring all elements run smoothly and respectfully
Manage administrative tasks such as documentation, permits, and liaising with legal authorities
Supervise funeral staff and coordinate logistical activities on the day of the service
Assist families with grief support resources and provide compassionate guidance throughout the process
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting when handling caskets or equipment
Maintain detailed records of all arrangements and correspondence related to each case
Skills
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, tact, and professionalism when dealing with bereaved families
Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and discretion
Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling of funeral equipment or caskets
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a respectful demeanour
Valid driving licence is desirable for transportation duties
