We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director to oversee and coordinate funeral services with dignity and respect. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting grieving families through difficult times, ensuring all arrangements are handled with sensitivity and organisational excellence. Duties
Coordinate and organise funeral services, including liaising with families, clergy, and service providers
Prepare and oversee the transportation of deceased persons, ensuring respectful handling at all times
Assist families with necessary paperwork, legal documentation, and arrangements for memorial services
Conduct viewings and support families through the grieving process with empathy and professionalism
Manage logistics related to the preparation of coffins, floral arrangements, and other service elements
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting when necessary to move caskets or equipment
Maintain accurate records of all arrangements and documentation related to each case
Provide guidance on funeral options, products, and services available to clients
Experience
Previous experience in a funeral service or related role is preferred but not essential; comprehensive training will be provided
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of handling caskets or equipment is required
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail when managing multiple arrangements simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to offer comfort and support to bereaved families during sensitive times
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining professionalism and compassion in emotionally challenging situations

HOURS
Monday - Friday 8.00am - 5.30pm
Approx 17 Saturday mornings per year 9.00am -12.30pm
Approx 50 nights per year on call over-night
28 days paid holiday per year, inclusive of bank holidays
