Main place of work: Talgarth with regular visits to our Treherbert campus and other sites where BMC FE courses are being delivered.
Role purpose:
To provide direction and oversight for the College's rapidly expanding further education courses, focusing on 3 priority areas: tutor team supervision and development, oversight and management of quality processes, and key elements of student journey. The role holder will be a vital member of the academic team for the College and will work closely with colleagues overseeing HE provision and with dedicated roles in student journey, marketing, and other areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
FE Teaching team supervision and development
Co-ordinate and supervise the FE tutor team across our sites to oversee the planning, development and review of courses, schemes of work, lesson plans and resources to ensure they are up-to-date and relevant, and that there is consistency across BMC's delivery centres.
Conduct and document regular one to one reviews, observations and annual appraisals with FE tutors and Teaching Assistants.
Organise and deliver 4 tutor development/standardisation meetings per year.
Take a leading role in the recruitment of new team members.
Support the induction of and ensure new team members are appropriately mentored.
Provide direction and support to the tutor team as new programmes are developed and introduced.
Anticipate and action changes to ensure the team works efficiently as the College's further education provision expands, including sharing good practice across programmes and spotting opportunities for tutors to work together.
Oversight and management of quality processes
Ensure all course records are kept up to date and all documents are prepared and submitted on time to the validating partner.
Input into the ongoing relationship with the validating partner.
Work with the CAO/COO to ensure standards are met in terms of learning, teaching and assessment, learner behaviour, safeguarding and welfare of learners, equality and diversity practices.
Ensure all quality requirements are met across the College's FE courses, including IQA and EQA visits.
Monitor risk assessment and health and safety standards across all FE courses.
Assist with reasonable additional duties as and when required, including supporting with the organisation of and attending Discovery Days, careers fairs and other related events.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and contractual agreements, including any surrounding administration.
Anticipate and action opportunities to streamline processes and ensure smooth running of all programmes as the College's further education provision expands.
Help problem-solve challenges as they arise and maintain a sense of the overall purpose and direction of individual programmes and the further education provision overall.
Update supervisor with any issues affecting quality and timely delivery of the College's FE courses programme.
Student journey
Assist with the design and development of new programmes with a particular focus on ensuring a good student experience is planned and embedded.
Co-ordinate how new programmes are operationalised and launched, working closely with the CAO and colleagues involved with Student Journey, ensuring holistic planning of all academic areas including admissions and recruitment, curriculum and timetable development, student experience and support, and assessment.
Work with the Student Journey Manager to ensure admissions process runs smoothly for all programmes.
Organise and oversee student induction each year?across teaching sites.
Liaise with the validating partner and Student Support Coordinator regarding students with additional needs and ensure high standards of student welfare are maintained.
Support the wellbeing of students and provide student support, supporting tutors with student 121's as required.
Monitor student engagement in the first term of new programmes after launch, including via at least one informal in person check-in with the student group.
Engage in the delivery of teaching sessions as required across a range of courses, including to ensure engagement with the student body and awareness of different courses and teaching venues.

Level 4 qualification or above.
2+ years of teaching experience, in an FE setting?or similar.
Full driving licence.
Level 3 Assessor Qualification (or be prepared to achieve this in first year of employment)
Train the Trainer or higher level teaching qualification (or be prepared to achieve this in first year of employment)
Desirable criteria
Welsh speaker.
A strong interest in sustainability and environmental issues.
Current first aid certificate.
IOSH Managing Safely or similar Health and Safety qualification
Assessors award.
