Artisan Alchemy Gallery is a small, design-led gallery in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter. We showcase contemporary British jewellery, fine furniture and handcrafted homeware, supporting makers whose work combines artistry and craftsmanship.
We are a very small team so reliability, communication and flexibility are essential.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on Gallery Assistant role ideal for someone who takes responsibility, is personable and cares about British craft and design.
You will help with:
Opening/closing the gallery and handling precious jewellery
Welcoming visitors and offering excellent customer service
Creating social media content
Keeping product information updated on the website
Liaising with makers and maintaining accurate records
Booking workshops and meeting room use
General gallery administration and keeping the space tidy
Logging new stock and managing accurate labels and inventory
Because this is a job share, excellent organisation and clear written communication are extremely important.
Who We're Looking For
Excellent written and spoken English
Friendly and helpful with visitors
Strong organisational skills and confident working independently
Interest in contemporary craft, jewellery, design or British makers
Ideally some retail, gallery or customer-facing experience
Flexible availability for our Thursday-Wednesday rotating pattern including alternate Saturdays
