We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Garden Centre Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a passion for horticulture and retail management. The Garden Centre Supervisor will play a key role in driving sales, maintaining merchandising standards, and fostering a positive team environment.
Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations of the garden centre, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of customer service.
Lead, motivate, and manage a team of staff members, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Oversee sales management activities, including upselling products and promoting seasonal promotions to maximise revenue.
Maintain effective merchandising displays to attract customers and optimise product placement.
Ensure stock levels are maintained through accurate inventory management and ordering processes.
Provide excellent communication with customers, addressing enquiries professionally via phone and in person.
Help to organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours while managing time efficiently.
Assist with administrative tasks such as reporting sales figures, managing staff records, and handling customer feedback.
Customer Service
Deliver a high standard of customer service at all times
Assist customers with product advice, plant care guidance, and purchases
Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally
Team Supervision
Supervise, motivate, and support shop staff on a daily basis
Assist with staff training, onboarding, and performance development
Allocate duties and ensure adequate cover during trading hours
Retail & Merchandising
Ensure attractive product displays and seasonal merchandising
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and safety
Monitor pricing, promotions, and point-of-sale accuracy
Stock & Inventory
Oversee stock control, deliveries, and stock rotation
Minimise waste, damage, and shrinkage
Assist with ordering and stock level planning
Operations & Compliance
Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures
Open and close the shop as required, including cash handling
Support the manager with reporting and daily administration
Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous retail supervisory experience (garden centre or similar preferred)
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to lead, motivate, and organise a team
Good numeracy and basic IT skills
Desirable
Knowledge of gardening, plants, or horticultural products
Experience with EPOS systems
Retail merchandising experience
