We are now seeking a committed, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Gardener & Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role for someone with genuine horticultural knowledge, practical experience, and a strong work ethic. You'll be working both independently and as part of a team on sites that demand attention to detail, initiative, and care.
In the spring and summer months, the role will focus heavily on garden and site maintenance -- including detailed border work, regular grass cutting, shrub trimming, weed control, and plant care.
During the autumn and winter months, work will shift toward landscaping and timber-based projects, such as fencing, decking, turfing, and sleeper installations. Previous experience in fencing or timber work is preferred, though not essential for the right candidate willing to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a wide variety of gardens and commercial outdoor spaces to a high standard
Confidently carry out grass cutting, weeding, strimming, pruning, and border maintenance
Apply herbicides and manage pest/disease issues where appropriate
Operate and maintain professional garden machinery and hand tools
Deliver excellent customer service when engaging with clients on site
Assist in or lead fencing, decking, and general landscaping jobs
Work safely and productively, either solo or alongside a small team
Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organised and fit for use
The Ideal Candidate
Experienced gardener with good plant knowledge and hands-on practical skills
Previous experience in grounds maintenance and/or soft landscaping
Fencing or timber work experience is preferred
Strong attention to detail and pride in completing work to a high standard
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
Must hold a full UK driving licence
No penalty points, past driving bans, or criminal convictions (insurance requirement)
