The Role As Garment Technologist, you'll play a key role in the development, testing, and technical realisation of our garments. From sourcing innovative fabrics to refining construction methods, you'll ensure our products live up to Keela's reputation for reliability and performance in the wildest weather. This is a hands-on, varied role combining technical know-how, creative problem solving, and collaboration with both local and overseas teams.
Key Responsibilities
Source, research, and liaise with fabric suppliers to obtain and evaluate samples for use in performance outdoor garments.
Manage and maintain technical specifications, cost sheets, and BOMs using Excel and other Microsoft tools.
Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to communicate design updates, tech packs, and garment construction details.
Investigate and analyse product returns, identifying root causes (e.g., seam sealant failures) and recommending corrective actions.
Oversee product testing including Hydrostatic Head, shower tests, and wear trials.
Work closely with pattern cutters and machinists to translate designs into physical prototypes, both in-house and with our Sri Lanka production team.
Support the pattern development process, including digital pattern work and manual drafting.
Contribute to sewing and sample creation where needed; hands-on garment construction experience is essential.
Ensure garments meet performance, fit, and quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
A qualification in textiles, fashion, or garment technology.
Strong knowledge of performance fabrics and garment construction, particularly waterproof and technical outerwear.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator & Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (with strong Excel skills).
A problem-solver who can balance attention to detail with a practical, real-world mindset. o Strong communication skills, you'll be liaising with production teams, suppliers, and testers.
Experience with physical and digital pattern cutting.
Confident using industrial sewing equipment and understanding construction methods.
A genuine interest in technical apparel and outdoor performance gear.
