GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Supporting the product development team in the creation and progress of all Alsico products. Creating and organising garment specifications and samples to meet critical path and customer deadlines. Ensuring that garment specifications are generated correctly and accurately to ultimately improve sample accuracy and specification queries. You will provide essential administrative support, manage data, and facilitate communication between internal teams and external suppliers.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The Garment Technologist is responsible for the following areas:
Product Development
Working with and visiting overseas factories to review new product development during development and manufacture in conjunction with Quality team.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to product development and garment technology.
Update and manage project critical paths and internal stakeholders
Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.
Working with the certification team to ensure products are certified to the required standards
Sample Development
Creating and sending technical packs to relevant factories for all new or resourcing styles
Support in requesting sampling/trims for all product groups utilising full supply base resources
Organise and attend fit sessions for all new product development
Approval and quality validation of Bronze, Silver, Gold samples and Bulk production
Collaborate with design and production team to ensure technical accuracy and resolve any issues related to construction or fit.
Ensuring garments are fit for purpose, meeting quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
Ensuring that all garments are compliant with relevant regulations, standards, and sustainability practices.
Assist with communicating any technical issues or potential improvements with suppliers and manufacturers
Creation of trim packs for Non-Alsico factory products
Specification Development
Efficient build of all product specifications for non Alsico factories including diagrams, BOM's, Size charts and emblem artworks
Producing technical drawings for garment specifications using Adobe Illustrator
Resolving queries and amending relevant specifications of existing product with clear communication processes
Improving the consistency of specifications and terminology
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Achievement of all assigned critical path dates on time and in full
Improving sample turnarounds
Accuracy of specifications and samples
REPORTING LINES
The position reports directly to the Senior Garment Technologist.
KEY REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
Relevant qualifications and degree preferred
Experience within a garment technology or product development role, or related field beneficial (2+ years)
Knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing methods
Knowledge of PPE standards desirable but not essential
Enthusiasm and proactive attitude towards learning and development
A keen eye for detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literate and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Intermediate Adobe skills including Illustrator and Photoshop
Critical path experience beneficial
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Ability to travel independently within the UK and overseas
