About Us

We are a supportive and growing tuition centre based at Ark St Albans Academy, Highgate. We provide high-quality academic support to students aged 8-16 in Maths, English, and 11+ preparation. Our focus is on building confidence, raising attainment, and helping students achieve strong results.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced

GCSE Maths and English Teacher

to deliver engaging, in-person lessons every

Saturday

during term time. The successful candidate will be confident in teaching both subjects up to GCSE level and have a proven track record of improving student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver structured, effective lessons in Maths and English (Key Stage 3 & GCSE). Tailor lessons to support a range of abilities, including students working towards Grade 4/5 and those aiming for top grades. Use varied teaching methods to engage students and support different learning styles. Track and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and centre staff. Foster a positive and focused learning environment to help students thrive. Identify and address gaps in knowledge and support exam preparation.

Requirements:

Strong subject knowledge in both Maths and English up to GCSE level. Prior experience teaching or tutoring at secondary level (minimum 1 year preferred). Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills. Ability to motivate and support students of varying abilities. Must be available to work in-person on Saturdays at the tuition centre.

Desirable:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred but not essential with strong experience). Familiarity with major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
