Salary: 32,464.59 - 34,627.78 per annum

About GDAS



The aim of the Gwent wide Adult Drug and Alcohol Service is to engage drug and/or alcohol users in a continuum of service provision in order to reduce substance related harm and improve functioning in all domains of the service users lives. This includes engaging and assessing service users, brief interventions and harm reduction, outreach, training, case management and aftercare, health promotion, detoxification programmes, needle exchange, maintenance and relapse prevention prescribing and wellbeing services.

We serve the population of Gwent (including those who are homeless) within the five local authority areas. The service is provided for adult drug and/or alcohol users aged 18 and over and are provided in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, professional manner demonstrating courtesy and respect for all individuals.

We are seeking empathic and dedicated individuals with experiences from a range of sectors to join us. We welcome people with experience of working not just in substance misuse - but in housing, mental health, primary care, secondary care, youth services, probation and other sectors that have transferable skills. We welcome individuals with their own lived experience of drug and alcohol use and/or mental health and from those who have supported others with lived experience.

Role Profile & Responsibilities



Role Purpose:



Lead, supervise and co-ordinate a team of front line workers Assist Service Managers in strategic and operational management and delivery in order to meet service aim

Main Duties & Responsibilities:



Lead and Manage a Team:

Recruit, induct and train new starters Provide line management, supervisions and appraisals to staff Provide support and guidance for staff development, including offering advice and feedback on practice, and monitoring and promoting positive staff well-being Monitor and develop staff interventions by ensuring engagement with quality and practice measures/tools such as video monitoring, shadowing staff, and conducting audits Ensure staff are working in line with internal Policies and Procedures, and complying with necessary legislation and social care guidelines. Act as a senior for safeguarding issues, supporting staff to undertake the necessary duties for those identified at risk. Provide regular and effective team meetings Ensure clear and consistent communication to the teams Liaise with the wider Team Leader team to share practice and make joint decisions where necessary to ensure consistency in management and practice, and supporting/covering duties if/where possible
Manage, co-ordinate and support operational delivery:

Ensure the core functions of the Community Service are running smoothly, consistently, and in line with the service specification Support frontline operation by covering staff when possible, or when integral to maintaining quality performance Ensure that the service operates and is developed in a way that encompasses and promotes partnership, and supports a holistic, multi-agency approach to the complex needs of this service user group Support the Integrated service and ensure joint working relationships are strengthened through frequent liaison and clear communication with wider staff teams Work with the Service Manager to embed effective and flexible systems and structures Adhere to systems for reporting any untoward incidents, complaints and safeguarding issues Provide a Lead function in an agreed base in order to support the Service Manager in ensuring core operations, Buildings Management, Health and Safety, and incidents are managed effectively Be responsible for performance management at the operational level, ensuring that services collect, collate, and report the required information and data; identify areas of under-performance and planning and implementing actions to improve performance Assist with the implementation of GDAS policies, procedures and protocols across the service, to ensure that safety and good practice are maintained for staff, other agencies and service users
Contribute to Service Development:

Demonstrate Leadership by promoting the vision and values of the service, and by bringing innovation to develop high performing teams that contribute to an adaptive and responsive service Support the planning and implementation of strategic changes to improve service delivery. Assist with service audits, service reviews and the evaluation of service user satisfaction for the service. To keep up to date with strategic and policy developments in respect of substance misuse and related matters
Liaison and Networking:

Foster and sustain good working relationships with stakeholders, including local partners within the local authorities and the health board by arranging and attending meetings, engaging in partnership events and being a point of contact for external senior staff. Promote service user involvement and co-production in service delivery Represent host organisation or GDAS in appropriate forums, groups and where necessary deputise for Service Manager Deliver talks, workshops, presentations and provide training where appropriate
Harm Reduction Provision:

Deliver harm reduction services and advice, including provision of Prenoxad Training, Needle Exchange Programme (NEX) and Dry Blood Spot Testing (DBST).
Compliance and Information Management:

Ensure compliance with internal case management systems and client records. Undertake appropriate monitoring, review and evaluation procedures. Adhere to host organisation and GDAS policies and procedures including safeguarding and boundaries. Undertake appropriate administrative tasks. Prepare and co-ordinate high quality written reports, ensuring that data recording and reporting requirements are fully met by the staff team. Ensure appropriate safeguarding and data protection principles are adhered in working practice Ensure case notes and other statutory records are up to date and kept in accordance with GDAS policies and procedures/regional information sharing protocols
Development & Training:

Promote and engage in a range of tools and methods designed to support further development in practice, including, but not limited to, the GDAS Worker Development Tool, Supervision, Reflective Practice, and Group Supervisions. Become an active panel member of the GDAS Worker Development Tool group Commitment to Learning and Practice Plans, ensuring knowledge and training remain up to date.
Other:

Communicate host organisation and GDAS vision and deliver upon mission, corporate strategy and business plans. Take up arrangements for supervision and support and participate in all relevant internal meetings. Undertake other reasonable duties as requested but which may not be specified within the job description.
