Ice Cream Workshop Group Limited (Valenti's) are a family owned independent company with generations of experience in the ice cream and tourism industry in the South West. Based in Calstock, Cornwall in the Tamar Valley we operate sites across Devon and Cornwall.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Counter Staff to join our vibrant team. As a vital part of our restaurant, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, ensuring they receive exceptional service while enjoying their dining experience. This role requires a passion for food and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Duties
Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately.
Assist in food preparation and ensure all items are presented beautifully.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area and kitchen.
Uphold food safety standards in accordance with health regulations.
Handle cash transactions and operate the till efficiently.
Upsell menu items to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
Manage time effectively to balance multiple tasks during busy periods.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not essential.
Culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques are advantageous.
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing orders.
Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
A keen understanding of food safety practices is essential.
Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour to engage with customers.
A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic team setting.

Please note that all positions at our company are paid, including internship positions. Pay is at National Minimum Wage / Living Wage, but can be negotiated based on experience. Pay shown includes holiday pay which is added to basic pay on a "rolled up" basis or taken when accrued.
Applicants need to be aged over 18 and pay will be from 11.50 (including holiday pay) and will need to have a National Insurance number and permissions necessary to work.
Non-UK nationals including students will need to have relevant valid work permits and documentation which will need to be provided at interview.
A Company Pension scheme is available, and you may "opt in" to this if you wish. Staff over the age of 21 are "auto-enrolled" unless you "opt out" within the specified time period.
Staff will be expected to work at weekends and particularly on Bank Holidays particularly over July and August. Staff will also need to be available to work during the weekdays in term time as well as school holidays. As the position is casual and seasonal, there is no expectation that contracts will extend beyond September 2025.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed Term Contract till 30/09/25 of Min 14 Hours per Week.
