The Role:



We are looking to appoint a medical educator with a healthcare background such as medicine, physiology and pharmacy.

This is a new leadership position in the Faculty of Science and Health and within the University. The post holder will play a lead role in the delivery of a major new strategic partnership with King's College London (KCL) to deliver a Branch of the KCL MBBS GEM course at the University of Portsmouth. This is of strategic importance to the University and region, intending to help address the health and wellbeing needs of the Portsmouth, South East Hampshire and Isle of Wight health and care system.



The GEM 1 Convenor will be an innovative medical educator who is responsible for the smooth running of Stage 1 of the GEM programme. The post holder will work closely with members of the team within the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, and the Portsmouth University Trust, including block leads within stage 1, as well as other members of the Programme leadership team, to provide an innovative and effective curriculum and prepare students for their formative and summative assessments. They will also work closely with students, student support and the Programmes, Placement and Assessment Teams to enhance the student experience.

Interviews are anticipated to be held 25 June 2024.

The working pattern for this post is 0.6 FTE, but 0.5 will be considered, days to be worked Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. There is the requirement to work mostly on campus and attend meetings at both Portsmouth and London Campuses, with some opportunity for hybrid working when students are not on site.
