About this Opportunity
Group Finance is central to Lloyds Banking Group and data is a key enabler to satisfying the needs of our internal and external customers. The Data Analytics team, within the Finance Platform, are empowering our customers through trusted data.
Data Analytics are recruiting a Product Owner to help shape the provision of future analytics and insight across Finance. The successful candidate will work side-by-side with a similar team based in Bristol / Cardiff. Together they will develop, prioritise and deliver a backlog of opportunities for Business Intelligence, including Gen BI!
The Data Analytics team works with end users across Finance to understand their data needs to support the business. We take their questions and provide answers in the form of amazing analysis, inventive data manipulations and logic, followed by clear data outputs - reports, dashboards or data storytelling.
Our customers' needs are diverse and wide. We support Finance across all of the Bank business Divisions. Consequently, we could use data from any system, for any product, and for any customer. We're closely involved in the move to Google Cloud Platform and the construct of Data Products to control the data.
Are you passionate about leading through change and can you help develop the new Business Intelligence product offering to support Finance, whilst still maintaining our current services until their replacement? If so, read on!
Why Lloyds Banking Group
If you think all banks are the same, you'd be wrong. We're an innovative, fast-changing business that's shaping finance as a force for good. A bank that's empowering its people to innovate, explore possibilities and grow with purpose.
Day to day responsibilities
You'll lead a team based across Edinburgh and West Yorkshire. You'll lead their task and line management. For their work you'll work to an agile fortnightly cadence. You'll support the assignment of work across the team and monitoring its progress and completion. Amongst the new work you'll ensure that existing BAU commitments continue to be delivered.
You'll liaise with other teams too, in particular the Engagement team to understand new demand, but also with Data Engineering teams where their support is needed and Data Management to keep our data usage safe.
As well as your own personal growth you will support with the development of your team, their upskilling as well as engagement in wider opportunities. You'll help make Finance Platform a fantastic place to work - supporting our agenda on inclusion, growth and having fun. There'll be lots of opportunities for you to get involved, be seen and to make a real difference.
What you'll need
Imagination
- the future won't be the same as today. You'll need an eye on change to stay ahead - your own, the bank's and the technology landscape. You'll need to understand the customers' needs and the best way we can satisfy them. You'll need to be flexible and imaginative to upskill the team to meet these needs.
You'll have experience working on transformation projects or bringing new technology into your team. Our LBG General Ledger is migrating from SAP to Oracle, and the bank has a strategy to move most of our data for insight to a single Cloud platform.
Stakeholder value and rigour
- you'll be comfortable liaising with customers and building new relationships across Finance. You'll be bold to face into new challenges. You'll drive the team's work based upon the value it generates, and you'll need to influence and lead your customers to describe the benefits of their work to ensure fair prioritisation.
You'll have a proven track record of broad, trusted stakeholder relationships. The work of the team could be to any of the three main customer divisions - Consumer, Insurance or Corporate - or to one of the Central Finance teams. So, you'll need to build networks and relationships with many people.
Strong Teamwork
- you'll be part of a group of highly capable data professionals. You'll need to work with them to progress the work, to focus together on challenges as they arise and to celebrate successes as a team. You'll be coach, mentor, manager and data-guru all in one. You'll rely on them as much as they'll rely on you.
Super values and behaviours
- and all the time you'll show great values and behaviours - incorporating the Lloyds Banking Group Values of being Bold, Trust, People First, Inclusive and keeping Sustainability at the forefront of all we do. You'll work to make LBG better and enrich your direct team and the wider team to be a great place to work.
You'll have examples of getting involved with wider initiatives. We have great local events, learning opportunities and groups bringing the team together on key focus areas. As a Manager we want you to participate in these, and even lead some, across the team or deeper into your location.
