Title: General Accountant
Location: London
Liftec Express, a leading PE-backed independent provider of elevator and escalator services in the UK, is seeking a skilled and experienced General Accountant.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the General Accountant will support core accounting activities including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal postings, and supporting the month-end close.
Daily Responsibilities:Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items Support the monthly and year-end closing process Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of transactions Assist in preparation of management accounts and financial reports Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations Reconcile bank accounts and support treasury processes Work closely with the AP/AR teams to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of queries Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required Assist with VAT returns, tax compliance, and other regulatory filings Contribute to the improvement and documentation of accounting processes and controls Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by the Finance Controller

Key Requirements:Part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT / ACCA / CIMA) Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting. Relevant certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is preferred 5+ years of similar experience Experience in a PE-backed, turnaround or carve-out environment is advantageous Previous experience in a service or construction-related business is a plus Strong understanding of accounting principles Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
