Graceland Nursing Home Limited is a 70 bedded Care Home situated in the Altonhill area of Kilmarnock. We are a family run business, who believes in providing high quality, person-centred care for each of our residents.
We have a vacancy for full time or part time General Assistants at Graceland Care Home. The position requires the applicant to work a range of shifts on a two week rota. This would normally entail working 4 days on one week, followed by 3 days the next.
The vacancy of General Assistant will require the applicant to work between the role of domestic assistant, kitchen assistant & laundry assistant.
Key responsibilities - Domestic Duties
To promote the good reputation of the home by cleaning all areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
To ensure all equipment and chemicals are used and handled correctly at all times, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, COSHH regulations and Health and Safety legislation. Use all supplies correctly and to minimise waste
To carry out all daily and weekly routines together with any special cleaning duties as directed and necessary
To support other members of the domestic team to complete work that requires extra members of staff to complete the task
To report all compliments, comments and complaints
To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards
To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard for the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, Service Users and other persons on site
Key Responsibilities - Laundry Duties
Sort, wash, dry, fold, and store linens, bedding, and residents' clothing according to established procedures and standards.
Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, including washers, dryers, and ironing machines.
Inspect laundry for stains, damage, or items left in pockets, taking appropriate action to address any issues.
Handle residents' clothing with care, ensuring items are returned to the correct individual and following any special instructions for delicate fabrics or items.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area, including regular cleaning of equipment, surfaces, and floors.
Monitor inventory levels of laundry supplies and submit requests for replenishment as needed.
Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a safe working environment.
Collaborate with other staff members and departments to meet residents' needs and ensure smooth operations within the care home.
Key responsibilities - Kitchen Duties
Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals following specified menus and dietary requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and storage areas, adhering to food safety regulations.
Support our Chefs and other kitchen staff in various tasks, including food storage, stock rotation, and inventory management.
Provide excellent service to residents and relatives, addressing any concerns or special requests promptly and courteously.
Follow health and safety procedures at all times, including proper handling and disposal of kitchen waste and cleaning chemicals.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen and timely delivery of meals.
Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
General
Exercise vigilance in respect of Health and Safety and promptly report all hazards and/or remedying them where appropriate. Undertake all duties in a manner calculated to minimise or avoid unnecessary risks, personally or to others
Report issues and/or incidents relating to staff and Service Users that have arisen in the day promptly to the relevant Line Manager or appropriate person
Operate at all times in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Participate in training and take responsibility for personal development
Participate in team meetings, supervisions and annual reviews in accordance with Company policy and the standards set by the Regulatory Body
Ensure that all actions are in the interests of the Service Users and the Company.
To work to and exhibit the values of the Company and maintain standards of behaviour in accordance with Company policies, procedures and practices
To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required
