Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a General Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in Retford DN22.


This is a term time only position, 30 hours a week working Monday to Friday, 7am to 2pm.

We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.


We are seeking an experienced General Assistant to join our team of five, providing catering services for approximately 250 people on site each day. The role involves supporting the preparation and service of hot and cold breakfasts, ambient snacks, hot lunches with salad bar options, and homemade desserts, as well as an evening hot tea service. You will be part of a busy catering environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and high standards of food presentation are essential.


The successful candidate will have prior experience in a similar role, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Duties include assisting with food preparation, service, cleaning, and ensuring all health and safety standards are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a passion for great food to play a key part in delivering a quality dining experience to a large on-site community.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Have experience working in a similar role and environment Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy Have excellent customer service and social skills Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 5 Be customer focused Have basic food knowledge Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
