We are seeking a dedicated General Catering Assistant to join our night shift team in Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom. This role is crucial in supporting our catering operations during night hours, ensuring high-quality food service and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.
Assist in the preparation and serving of food items according to menu specifications and dietary requirements
Operate and maintain various kitchen equipment, ensuring proper use and cleanliness
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, keeping the kitchen and food service areas spotless
Support the kitchen team in stock rotation, inventory management, and food storage
Assist with the set-up and breakdown of catering events or food service areas
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during night shifts
Respond promptly and courteously to customer queries or special requests
Maintain a tidy and organised workspace, following all health and safety guidelines
Qualifications
Proven experience in food handling and preparation techniques
Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
Basic numeracy skills for inventory management and portioning
Excellent time keeping abilities and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
Flexibility to work night shifts and occasional weekends or holidays
Food hygiene certificate is desirable
Previous experience in catering or food service is preferred but not essential
