At Sheffield Forgemasters we have an exciting opportunity for a General Ledger Manager to join our team.


This role is based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield. Our Finance department plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisation's financial health, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. Covering everything from day-to-day financial operations to long-term financial planning & analysis, including the delivery of our recapitalisation programme.


As a General Ledger Manager, you will be supporting the Head of Finance Accounting & Control by leading the Management Accounts team.

What you'll be doing

Providing leadership to the Management accounts team; being accountable for the team members development, reviewing performance and being an exemplary role model. Being responsible for the full P&L analysis and reporting. Preparing full balance sheet analysis and reporting. Continually improving processes to create efficiency gains and streamline the month end process. Development of Accounts Apprentices through regularly reviewing training plans. Supporting audits by ensuring all work is prepared to audit standard.

About You

ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or equivalent. Advanced MS Excel and data manipulation skills. Experience working with Power BI is a distinct advantage. Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g. IFRS, UKGAAP). Ability to keep up to date with changing financial reporting standards and apply these to the financial statements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 18:00.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
