Job Type: Full-time

About Society Birmingham

Following the success of Society Manchester, we're excited to bring the concept to Birmingham -- a city-centre food hall featuring five independent food traders and a vibrant central bar. Society Birmingham will be a go-to destination for great food, craft drinks, and unforgettable social experiences.

Our mission is simple: exceptional hospitality, quality produce, and a venue that becomes a key part of the local community.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic General Manager to lead the opening and ongoing operations of Society Birmingham.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the full bar operation, managing a talented team, and ensuring the venue runs smoothly day-to-day. Working closely with the on-site food traders, you'll help deliver a seamless and memorable experience for every guest.

You'll need to be hands-on, people-focused, and operationally strong -- someone who can lead from the front and keep the energy high, while keeping a close eye on the details that make all the difference.

Responsibilities

Lead the opening and long-term operation of Society Birmingham

Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a welcoming, professional environment

Oversee the bar offering -- including cellar management, stock control, and ensuring high standards of service

Drive revenue through effective team leadership, product range, and consistent quality

Manage rotas, recruitment, training, and ongoing staff development

Collaborate with food traders to support a cohesive and efficient venue operation

Monitor key financials, including GP, stock, and P&L performance

Ensure compliance with health & safety, licensing, and hygiene regulations

Support the marketing team with local social media initiatives and campaigns

What We're Looking For

3+ years of hospitality or bar management experience in a busy, high-volume venue

A passion for hospitality -- with a strong customer-first approach

Knowledge of craft beer and cellar standards is highly desirable

Confident across all drinks categories: wine, spirits, coffee, and soft drinks

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build, motivate, and inspire your team

Financially competent -- familiar with managing GP, stock, budgets, and reporting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable working with multiple food vendors or traders

Good understanding of H&S, compliance, and licensing requirements

Competent in Word, Excel, and rota/planning software

Social media awareness -- an understanding of how a venue's online presence influences its brand

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

Event planning experience

Personal Licence holder

What's In It For You?

42,000-50,000 salary + bonus package (TBC)

Free or discounted food

Employee discounts across the venue

Enhanced maternity & paternity leave

The opportunity to lead an exciting new venue from day one and be part of a growing brand

Sound Like You?

If you're ready to take the lead at one of Birmingham's most exciting new hospitality destinations, we'd love to hear from you. Send us your CV and a short cover letter telling us why you're the right fit for Society Birmingham.
