As theGeneral Manager, you'll be responsible for driving forward EMR's UK electric battery recycling operations; from vehicle batteries to other energy storage sources. This is a chance to shape a growing part of our business that plays a vital role in the circular economy and in creating a more sustainable future.



You won't just be delivering on today's targets; you'll be helping to design tomorrow's vision. With support from senior leadership, and a talented team you'll shape and grow, you'll lead the charge in building a business that spans the full battery lifecycle: from collection and storage to repair, reuse, and recycling.

What You Will Be Doing

You'll take ownership of our battery recycling business in the UK -- setting the direction, leading the team, and delivering results. Here's what that looks like in practice:

You'll lead the strategy.

You'll develop our long-term business plan and annual budget, making sure we're investing in the right areas to support safe, scalable, and profitable growth. You'll take responsibility for the P&L and make key decisions that shape our success.

You'll build and develop a high-performing team.

You'll bring people together with a shared purpose; supporting their development, coaching emerging leaders, and creating a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.

You'll ensure safety and compliance come first.

From our sites to our supply chain, you'll make sure our operations meet the highest standards; always aligned with legislation and EMR's safety and environmental policies.

You'll lead projects with impact.

You'll plan and oversee key projects across the EV battery supply chain, from logistics and storage to processing and reporting, making sure everything runs to time, to budget, and to scope.

You'll manage relationships across the business.

From the Commercial Director ELV to our Electric Battery Advisory Group and operational leads, you'll communicate clearly and build trust with internal and external stakeholders alike.

And you'll keep the numbers on track.

With support from our finance team, you'll make sure financial reporting is accurate, forecasts are robust, and that we're always making commercially sound decisions. You'll also present business cases for future investment as the business evolves.

About You

We're looking for someone who thrives on building something new; someone with the experience, energy, and commercial instinct to lead a growing business in an emerging sector.



You'll bring:


An entrepreneurial approach. A strong track record in operations management, preferably general management of growing multi-site operation in a high-quality manufacturing sector that is relevant to repair, reuse and recycling of electric batteries and related services. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead high performing teams and manage stakeholder expectations effectively. Steward for safe operations. Experience of managing complex business operation with variable feeds. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
